Happy Thanksgiving from all of Us!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
~ Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep. I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep. The leftovers beckoned- the dark meat and white but I fought the temptation with all my might, tossing and turning with anticipation the thought of a snack became infatuation.
So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore. I gobbled up a turkey and buttered potatoes, pickles and carrots, beans and tomatoes. I felt myself swelling so plump and so rouns, 'till all of sudden, I rose off the ground. I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie, but I managed to yell as I soared past the trees....
Happy eating to all; Pass the cranberries, please. May your stuffing be tasty, may your turkey be plump. May your potatoes 'n gravy have nary a lump, may your yams be delcious, may your pies take the prize, and may your Thanksgiving dinner stay off yo…

Past Two Days...

Abigail has been very very good in the fenced backyard while My husband and I tackled the chore of raking and blowing leaves from our massive front yard to the roadside. On Wednesdays, our city's "Vacuum" truck comes around our neighborhood and vacuum up the leaves. We currently have about 200' long, 3-4' high and 5' wide row of leaves beside the road. Is that a lot?

Abigail has been wearing a very fashionable sweater. The weather is a bit brisk. Abigail has been amusing herself with our neighbors. They think that she is adorable. We think that too!
With the fresh air all day, Abigail is tired and worn out. I think I feel the same!.
In a day or two, I will ask Abigail to see if she would fashion the sweater for a picture.

One Week!

Look at me! Aren't I just so dang cute?
. It is hard to believe that it has been a full week since Abigail's homecoming! What a difference a week makes! Abigail has been more sure of herself. Everyday, she challenge herself mentally and physically. So much so, that I am doing some research on the net to create a "home" agility course for her in her backyard. I am thankful that Abigail is in our home and my life. She makes me laugh, which is good for the healing process. . BeagleMommie

Some acknowledgement & "Rescuer's Bridge"

~I had recieved this "Rescuer's Bridge" from Abigail's Foster Mommy, June, who is with Alcovy Pet Rescue, Inc.

Rescuer's Bridge I
Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All of the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before.

But the animals who had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to The Bridge to watch. It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the ones who had been there for a while, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often.

He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of injury or illness. Unlike all of the other animals waiting at The Bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigoro…

Quiggly, we miss you very much
You're always in our hearts

I miss Quiggly very much and Abigail is helping me to make the pain a bit easier to live with, by being a very busy active young beagle. When the pain is more easier to live with I will share some things about Quiggly. It is because of Quiggly that we wanted Abigail, more specificly another little beagle.

Abigail tries new cuisine.

Image
Abigail is trying her "paws" at some exotic cuisine. Some Exotic Natural
Cuisine! She experimented on some "roots" of our thorn-less blackberries.
(The root self formed at the end of the cane that had touched ground)
Abigail decided that the "blackberry roots" were satisfactory to her chewing.

Next, she tested some leaves of pears, maples, oaks and figs. Her taste buds
concluded that these were of non-favorable variety, but interesting nonetheless! However, she did like the acorn she cracked open with her teeth and ate.

A delightful find! Some pear twigs! These went through vigorous testing.
cracking and crunching sounds can be heard while being ground on them sharp teeth of Abby!
These proved to be a relaxing.. um.. dinner mint?

It will be interesting to see what our budding taste tester will think of our ripe pears, blackberries, figs and muscadines come next year's harvest!

~Today, Abigail had two quick lap running in the yard while the rain held …

Beagle and Rain, don't mix

Image
Yesterday was a long active day for Abigail and her family!.
We raked up numerous piles of leaves. Abigail checked a lot of them.
She ran through them, dived into them, launched at them and buried some of her keepskates. (I later recovered them for safekeeping)
This picture shows her taking a break from the "busy" day. The sky was blue with puffy clouds. A very beautiful Atumn day for the delightful beagle!
She tuckered out! She slept through the night.
We woke up to a different weather this morning. Rain! Dismal rain. Abigail is very active and being housebound isn't helping to use up the energy. She is trying out all of her toys and racing through the whole house. She is also venturing out places in our home. I caught her opening one of the doors to the pots and pans cupboard and investigating.
I took her outside in the rain in a fleece coat that fit her. I tried to run her a bit. She ran some but it seems even for her the rain is dampening the fun.
Maybe I can try …

Where is Abbie?

Image
"Can you find me?", Abbie wonders, "I'll give you a hint, If you can locate my "Beagle Flag" you'll find me!"

Abbie's favorite game...so far

Image
" Bet you can't find me", Abbie thinks.

Abbie doing what Beagles do best!

Image
Sniff, Run, Eat, Sleep, Baying... those are just few things to list. Today marks Abbie's third day at home with our family. The day before yesterday, she explored her new yard. Her Court (yard) is well fenced, and filled with many things to delight her nose. She has a long row of Goddess Bamboos to run through. Also plays her new favorite game "Can you find me?" behind the bamboos. I hollered out "Run, run, run"in my delight. The thought process in her mind was sorting out those fun words and in a FLASH, of she went! She ran and ran and ran. She ran so fast that she was flash of lightening! She did figure eights around a pear tree, the shed, the pergola, the muscadine vines, the fig bushes! I was aware of beagles having hidden talents! I am glad to watch her talents unfold before my eyes. Abbie's nose has been exploring, so much new scents for her discovery! We do have many kinds of birds that visit us and she spied a few pairs of Mourning Doves. She found t…

Abigail! Her adventure with us started yesterday, 11 November 06. At the moment, I am very tired, so I will begin her story in a few days. I am also adjusting on being "her" Mommie. Be sure to come back in a few days to see the adventures of Abigail unfold as she begins to explore her new home, new family and new yard, also to be "Abigail"

In Memory Quiggly, a.k.a. Quiggley's Girl Down Under
14 April 95 ~ 09 November 06

This blog is dedicated to my beloved beagle "Quiggly".
We had to say good bye to her on 09 Nov 06.
She was almost 12 years old AKC 13" American Beagle.
I adopted her ten years ago from the Seattle Beagle Rescue Soceity. I miss her dearly, the delight of my heart.

I received a lovely poem called "Rainbow" Bridge" from my mother to help me through my grief. I would like to share it with you. It is a lovely, touching reminder of our beloved pets that we had to be strong for.

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that had been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to …
