Out With The Old & In With The New?

Image
So, Are you ready for the year 2012? Ready or not, it is coming! We do not know what the new year will hold for all of us. We could plan for it and hope that it will go that way?  Do you make resolutions? I used to but gave up doing them, most of them were futile and far reaching. I used to smoke and finally quit but it was never a resolution. It was something that I finally decided that I needed to do for myself, just for me. That was nearly 6 years ago! What will be new for me now? I have made some adjustment in the way I shop for groceries and the way I eat. This is not for a way to lose weight but it will help that in a long run. I am choosing to cut out or cut back on things that are high in carbohydrates, such as white pasta, white sugar, white breads, etc. I am not diagnosis diabetic but if I do not make adjustments now, it is possible. So I have changed with what I pick to buy and eat. It sounds rough to be without those yummy things but I did not look ...

...Details! Details! Details! Did It Involve Lampshades?

Image
Lampshades you say? Well...let me share a story!  This past Thursday, Three genteel Southern Ladies from South Carolina and two of Georgian's sweet Southern Belles met up in a Southern town called Commerce which is located in Georgia.  The proper ladies planned this get together for tea, friendship and to do some old fashioned lace making called tatting, using shuttles and threads. These ladies with their talented hands and fingers turn those simple threads into beautiful fine laces. As these tatting shuttles flew, the ladies shared some of their current of events. So much to catch up on since October 2010, when these ladies last met. A news of a new birth of a great niece was shared, a red headed one in fact! The ooohs and ahhhs were expressed with glee. The meals at various local eateries were enjoyed, delicate fish, tantalizing stew, sizzling steak and many more delights had  filled their table. Another occasion of a meal included exotic orient, tantalizing to t...

We are invading Commerce, GA this time around! I'll pack the camera and tatting stuff... I'll be back to post about this fun time! Adios... Look OUT Commerce...we will be on our way!

...Tatters Just Wanna Have Fun!

On the week-end of October 15th & 16th, Toccoa, Georgia had been raided by the people known as Tatters, just four of them! It could have been disastrous for the Toccoaians if there were more... They'd be over-run with Tatters! Just how knotty can that get...hm? These Tatters were just having FUN!!!! The Tatters were indeed knotty! They consumed yummy dip with crackers, cashews & chocolates to ones content. *GASPED* They even partaken wine. That was after the fatal mishap! Yes! There was a horrible mishap.... BEFORE enjoying the wine! The most important tool to get the cork out of the bottle was forgotten... left behind miles away from the fun! Good thing that I... yes me, only lived 3 minutes away and the FUN continued for the Tatters!  (There were NO drinking and driving involved,  we women knew how to have fun and STAY out of trouble.) Please heed my advice when one plans for any amount of fun with yummy food and wine... Remember th...

It has been some time since I last blogged about anything! Many things have happened and soon, I'll blog about some of those things, but as the subject line says! I tatted a Poplar Leaf and finished it! This is my first tatted "Mary Fitch Poplar Leaf" done in DMC Perle Coton, size 8, color 94 (Saturday's Early Bird Special... taught by Karey Soloman On 26-28 of August 2010,  I was privileged to be able to attend The Palmetto Tat Days,  put on by an amazing group of people from The Palmetto Tatters Guild! On Thursday afternoon, I arrived at The Georgia Baptist Conference Center located in Toccoa Georgia. I got to meet the wonderful people early and poke my nose around the place. The location and the building is beautiful. The Center is situated by Lake Louise. Friday morning came early for me! I was so excited to have this day begin! We had a filling breakfast at the Dining Hall. There was time for shopping in the Vender's Room. It contained ...
