...Hen and Chicks?

Image
Today was devoted to what I received in my mail today! How many of you thought from the title to my blog was about these "Hen and Chicks? Okay.. so some of you did (I got farm friends that would be the ones to think this)! Now, which of you thought that I meant the tatting pattern known as this "Hen and Chicks" like below? Yep, thought so... those knotty friends of mine, yanno.. the tatters? Yep those are the ones! Did any of you think of this kind? The succulents? Yep, that would be the ones that I am talking about! I ordered this sweetie from  Full Bloom Nursery  on Etsy. I have had this shell like for forever and it moved with me from various homes and states. This shell was a gift from my Grandpa. He used to live in Florida and would walk the beach nearly everyday. I held onto the shell all these years, waiting for it's perfect purpose. The Echeveria 'Topsy Turvy' succulent arrived in a box with it...

...Size Does Matter!

...especially if you're a Basset Hound! When Mr. Peabody joined our family back on the 25th of August 2010, we had a donut doggie bed (bolister style) for Abigail. We did not have one for Mr. Peabody, so we devised one for him. He hardly used it. Abigail being a very sharing beag.. she gave her bed to Peabody and he made the best of it. In fact, it appeared he loved that bed regardless that his hind end would at time be on the floor out of the bed.. or his head, as you see here. There was a BIG box, all wrapped waiting for Peabody. Abigail is an old pro at unwrapping presents and helped Peabody. It was a really big bed... bigger than Abigail's! Now we, the Pawrents feel much better for Peabody not hanging out of a small bed. Wouldn't you feel better too? We officially had a White Christmas in the Northeast Georgia this year. From what I understand... the last White Christmas in these parts was back in 1881! Maybe... just maybe this White Christmas could partially...

...Ahh The Memories of This Summer!

Image
The Summer has passed and at times this early Autumn you wouldn't know it by the temperatures! The first half of October was still hot and humid! Then it was wintery cold in the evening time! I have been taking that trip down the memory lane, particularly today. Laundry were dried in the fresh air,  the scents of Heaven to my nose. First time that my Wisteria bloomed in an abundance!  More scents from Heaven. The battle between the Squirrel and the Beagle,  never ending! More laundry for the fresh air,  Laundry never ending! Quilt blocks made for the swap on MaryJanesFarm Connection, colorful to my eyes. Kitchen Angel made for another swap on MJF! Pine-needle baskets made from Nature. My first Redwork on pillowcases... made for a barter! A new addition to our family! The harvest of juicy Blackberries! I bagged these blackberries and put them into my freezer. Yesterday I was looking in the freezer for something and saw thes...

...My Tomatoes

Image
This year was my first attempt in growing my own tomatoes. I had this large outdoor plastic pot that was just sitting with dirt and not being used. I got few "starters" of the Roma and Cherry tomatoes size and grouped them together in the pot. I had these white plastic fence screen that had disguised our A/C but was damaged (the screen) from a tree of ours that fell from a storm past year. I adjusted the screen to go around the tomato pot. Since there were holes all over the screens... over the growing season, I used some of my bamboo poles and slid them through, which created support for them 'maters! This Lady built her traps near my tomatoes. She is very striking in her features and also in her web. She is known by many names. Yellow Garden Spider,  Yellow garden argiope; yellow garden orb-weaver; golden garden spider; golden orb-weaver; the writing spider and also zig-zag spider because of her web design (although hard to see in this picture) This was the ver...

...a day of God's Beauty and my camera!

Image
This morning I went and did my work out at Curves. The song "Fly Robin Fly" by Silver Convention came on. My mind escaped and smiled. I love that song, sure I have a daughter name Robyn and that would be one of the reason why I love that song. To be fair, the song "Rockin Robin" by Bobby Day has the same affect. Another reason that I love Fly Robin Fly is the simplicity of it and it is mellow!   After the workout, I could not let the song out of my mind and heart. So upon arriving home I got Abigail and my camera. We went visiting our yard. My eyes were gleaming as each beautiful creation caught my attention. Robins! Flowers! Chipmunks! Bushes! Grasses! Mosses! The shutter of my camera clicked. This is what I saw today! ...What a blessed day I had!  In spite of getting a crown on my tooth, truly blessed! *** Gen 1:1 In the beginnin...

...after the rain

Image
I woke up feelin' refreshed from the rain that fell over night. The rain washed off that thick yellow pollen down,  giving all things in nature their fresh color again.  The scent of my Mother's Day Lilac seemed to have renewed! The memories that this treasure holds! Ten Years! I stand and admire the years it represent. My daughters, both of them, have done this Mom proud. Each new year I am newly awe'd of the women they have become. Thank you, God! *** Luke 1:42 In a loud voice she exclaimed:  " Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!".

...My Distractions!

Image
Some say that distraction is a bad thing. That it takes away your focus. In many ways I would agree, for an example... while driving, while cooking, while watching the youngsters, watching pets, reading and so much more. Those times are critical for undivided attention and focus to prevent serious harm.    Then there are another kinds of distraction that are bad for you because they waste time of your productivity. T.V. and computers come to mind as far as that kind. I am guilty of those, but it does not monopolize me. As you can see, there are many distractions that are "bad".    There are distractions in my life that brings peace and joy! The ones that God purposely brings to my  focus! The times when I pass a window and catch a glimpse of something, something like a flash of red so that I can't help to stop and see what it may be. That brilliant red coral color! My eyes catches that color and sees a pair of cardinals. I hear them! I watch t...
