...Size Does Matter!

Image
...especially if you're a Basset Hound! When Mr. Peabody joined our family back on the 25th of August 2010, we had a donut doggie bed (bolister style) for Abigail. We did not have one for Mr. Peabody, so we devised one for him. He hardly used it. Abigail being a very sharing beag.. she gave her bed to Peabody and he made the best of it. In fact, it appeared he loved that bed regardless that his hind end would at time be on the floor out of the bed.. or his head, as you see here. There was a BIG box, all wrapped waiting for Peabody. Abigail is an old pro at unwrapping presents and helped Peabody. It was a really big bed... bigger than Abigail's! Now we, the Pawrents feel much better for Peabody not hanging out of a small bed. Wouldn't you feel better too? We officially had a White Christmas in the Northeast Georgia this year. From what I understand... the last White Christmas in these parts was back in 1881! Maybe... just maybe this White Christmas could partially...

...Twas The Night Before Christmas

Image
Twas the Night before Christmas Poem By Clement Moore Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there. The children were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. And mamma in her ‘kerchief, and I in my cap, Had just settled our brains for a long winter’s nap. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and eight tinny reindeer. With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he ...

...Wishing You and Yours a Very Merry Christmas!

Image
For unto us a Child is born For unto us a child is born, To us a son is giv’n; The government shall rest on him, Th’ anointed one from heav’n. His name is Wonderful Counselor, The Mighty God is he, The Everlasting Father, The humble Prince of Peace. The increase of his government And peace shall never end; He’ll reign on David’s ancient throne As ruler of all men. Upheld with justice and righteousness, Forever his kingdom will last; The zeal of the Lord God Most High Will bring these things to pass. Lord Jesus, come now and reign in me, Be Lord of my life this hour. Come be my Counselor and my God, My source of wisdom and power. Watch o’er me with your Father care, My heart and my mind, fill with peace. I worship you, my Lord and King, My praise will never cease. Merry Christmas to All and Celebrate Jesus Birthday by singing Happy Birthday to Him.

...To Chain or Not To Chain!

Image
I have been tatting my heart out since the Palmetto Tatting Guild's Tat Days this past year. I have come a long ways since. I have researched on tattings and tried many patterns... I still am, to improve my abilities and develop "my style". My daughter has become an amazing tatter in jewelry with updated modern twist. She just amazes me to no end. As my confidence grew, my style is also growing. Maybe I should say preferences instead of style. I have learned that I do not "like" to create things without patterns. I am not "into" making things other than doilies and edgings but if needed to will do the other things. I also am not at all keen on tatting with the ball of thread, multiple shuttles, ends and sewing in ends... I like doing one shuttle, less stuff to fuss with.  Now with that said.. I prefer rings and chains. So I had to make a compromise with myself and use the ball or use the second shuttle as the ball. Then again, I am falling in love wi...

...Holidays Were Also Made for Animals!

Image
Last evening at 7 pm EST  there were many "Snoops" celebrating! Snoops is private group of dog lovers that come together and share and care about dogs, our own and rescued & fosters.. and transportion of these dogs going to fosters and fur-ever homes. I'll mention more of this in just a bit. Anyhow, our dogs (mostly beagles) did Secret Santa Paws gift exchange...from all over this planet of ours! We were blessed to have this cute doggie named Maximus as the doggie to send our secret gift(s) to. This is Maximus! Such a handsome boy, and adorable too! It was our special time last night for all of the Snoops to open their gifts from Santa Paws. It was important to document this once a year event with pictures and/or videos. We got to see what each blessed doggie got from Santa Paws! Max-imus recieved these from his Santa Paws, presents all wrapped up!  Heaven of treats!!!! Max has a brudder named Buford and is a beagle. From what Max was saying...

...Jon's Magic Moment Snowflake.

Image
I used Jon's  Magic Moment Snowflake  pattern. I used my daughter's..errr ... I mean Dr. VonThreadmore's HDT size 20, color ..um I forgot! (Hey Kiddo..which color is this one..picture is darker than actual color) I think that means I should label my threads! After I blocked this tatted piece, I went back and looked at Jon's version. I realized that I may have over blocked it. Her center spokes are more curvy and mine are straight. I like hers better! I want to comment my thoughts and feelings about Jon's patterns. I really like her style for the continuity of tatting. While I am able to tat in "rounds" I find it very annoying to cut and sew in ends because then my once nicely flat work becomes a bit distorted from sewing in the ends. It is very possible that I need to learn better in the technique sewing in ends...but ends do annoy me regardless. Jon's way in many of her patterns online that she shares graciously, you start at the beginning and ta...

...Redecorate the Mini Chocolate Box!

Image
A little while ago one of my blogging friend  Isdihara  put out a challenge. A challenge that involved a mini box of chocolate like Whitman's.. to decorate the box with tatting. (for more details  click here ) I honestly thought against doing it.. just because of the timing and the first entrant! Well this past week, I had a mini box of chocolates and ate them up... actually gobbled them up. Shameful I know!  I stared at this empty box and decorated it with fabric. I tatted up the edging and the butterflies.... TaaaaaaaaaaDaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Cute huh? So.... I guess I am gonna enter this cute lil box.. but I sure can't out-do  Carol's! P.S. the deadline for this is 30th of November.. so if you're interested, go to this  link!

...Time to Heal, to Comfort, to Reach Out

Image
Many of you know of my recent loss, so I have been busy just to keep my mind from focussing on the loss. I will say it isn't easy because the memories keep flooding in. Then I am warmed by them. I keep thinking of my dear Grandma for how she must be feeling. I went to search for a tatted pattern that would show Grandma how much love that we all have for her too. I found this pattern for a  tatted rosary  and went to work on it. I was so thrilled that I had learned to do the split rings from my friend Sharren at our "girls" get together in Toccoa. While I tatted this lovely rosary, I cried, I prayed, I remembered all the beautiful memories. I will be carefully wrapping up this gift for Grandma and sending it off to her. I pray that it will bring comfort to her... ...great exercise for practicing those SR's! (Split Rings) Grandma... I love you. An Irish Blessing: May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon yo...

...Grandpa, I Miss You Dearly

Image
My Grandpa   05 February 1919 ~ 05 November 2010 Grandma & Grandpa ...come February, I will dedicate a blog entry to my Grandpa. Right now, it is hard... the void is so deep. For now I will leave this entry with many Irish blessings to honor my Grandpa May the blessings of light be upon you, Light without and light within. And in all your comings and goings, May you ever have a kindly greeting From them you meet on the road.  May you live long, Die happy, And rate a mansion in heaven.  May the hand of a friend always be near you, And may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.  May your heart be warm and happy With the lilt of Irish laughter Every day in every way And forever and ever after.  May  brooks  and  trees  and singing hills Join in the chorus too. And every gentle wind that blows Send happiness to you.  May the joys of today Be those of tomorrow. The goblets of life Hold no dregs of sor...

...Finally! My Dream Kitchen Curtains Completed!

Image
I had began this cute project over a year ago. I bartered with this one Farmgirl at  MJF Connection . She had piles and piles of these old hankies that needed a good home.  My home! I already had in mind how these lovelies were going to be used. So what does a gal like Karrieann do with some of these?  Well, I hand stitched them into a quaint curtain for my Kitchen door. That is what I did! I love how they look! (This shot is without the use of flash) What took so long to get these beauty up?  It took me this long to get the needed curtain rod! I live in this small town and only one store carried these rods. At times they didn't have the size that I wanted and I forget to get them at times! Last night these hankies were placed into their place of honor. This is the door that get used more than any other doors and will remind me daily of the generosity of people, people who have kind heart. Thank you Farmgirl "antoinette"! *  Revelation 3:...

...This one is my Biggest!

Image
YAY!!! I am so so happy with this one.   Sadly, this one belongs to a Farmgirl for the barter! I know it is going to a wonderful home. I added one of my tea cup and saucer to the picture to give a better idea to the size of this lovely doily!
