<br />
I am still around! Life just keeps on rolling along and I am trying to keep up with it!<br />
<br />
I had a request from a Tatter who shops at my Etsy for Halloween theme "ONS". This was a bit of a challenge for me... BUT I made a few. They turned out so cute, if I do say so for myself!<br />
<br />
If you are looking for some, just take a trip to my Etsy Shop, " <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/2TomorrowsTreasures?ref=si_shop" target="_blank">Yesterday's Scraps, Tomorrow's Treasures</a> "<br />

I would manage to get over those bumps pretty good and if I fell, I'd just dust the dirt off my knees. Since I last made the previous post, I ran into many hard hurdles! Many of them really hurt me emotionally! Ouch! Without going into details of those hurdles, I have been falling flat on my face and bruising my knees with scrapes of tough changes in life.<br />
<br />
I have become a care-giver for someone who I love dearly.<br />
<br />
So frustrating!<br />
...for her<br />
<br />
So over whelmed!<br />
...for me<br />
<br />
So full of uncertainties!<br />
...for her<br />
...for me<br />
<br />
I went back to church last Sunday. It had been too long and it was time to come "home" again. I am reminded that my life matters too and I can "do" this.<br />
<br />
Slowly, I am regaining myself back.<br />
...for me<br />
...for her<br />
<br />
Slowly, I am getting back to joy.<br />
...for me<br />
...for her<br />
<br />
A nudge sent me into the kitchen. No excuses, all the ingredients were there. It was time again. Bake something!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I measured. </div>

I mixed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I added. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I whisked. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I stirred. </div>

I rolled. </div>

I flattened. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I baked. </div>

<span style="background-color: white;">One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.<br />Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.<br />In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.<br />Sometimes there were two sets of footprints.<br />Other times there were one set of footprints.<br />This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life<br />When I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or defeat,<br />I could see only one set of footprints.<br />So I said to the Lord, "You promised me, Lord,<br />That if I followed you, you would walk with me always.<br />But I noticed that during the most trying periods of my life<br />There have only been one set of prints in the sand.<br />Why, When I have needed you most, you have not been there for me?"<br />The Lord replied,<br />"The times when you have seen only one set of footprints<br />Is when I carried you."

I will be heading West soon, to visit family and help my Mom with her life changing plans. My laptop is staying home.<br />

Dr. Von Threadmore's plans to attend the Palmetto Tatter's Guild's Tat Day 2012 have been postponed to 2013. This is mostly my mishap, I neglected to inform the good ole Dr about the dates and other important information for applying to teaching. </div>

I really appreciate the generosity of the contributors thus far. I am going to keep going with the fund raiser for Dr. Von Threadmore and hope that it will be successful for her to attend the PTG's Tat Days 2013. Then purchasing the airfare early will be less costly! If any of you have any blog(s) and desire to blog about this cause, please email me to discuss this. I will toss in either a skein of HDT or one of my "ONS" as my thank you.</div>

Trimming Down My Usage on Facebook!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It is amazing of how much time passes you by when you are not paying attention. It seems that two years have basically flew by me without much thought. For the past month or so, I finally took a serious look at my home with open eyes. It is disorderly...pretty bad. It got that way because I allowed Facebook's games to take over and monopolize my time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was time to say for me to say to self, "Enough IS ENOUGH!" It was time for me to get back to the things that I love doing, to stop using things that sucked away my time, to manage my time better... for my self and for my health. I guess it is possible to say that I have been in state of denial... not of drugs or anything like that but of life itself.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, before this blog post I deleted all of the Facebook games that I was addicted to and is deleting "friends" that are not friends, just people who also play the same games as I did to have more "neighbors". I had 649 friends! Yikes! That list is being trimmed down to family and friends, friends who are truly friends, along with other people who are like minded such as Beagle & Basset Hounds / Dog lovers, Tatters, and some who crossed my path for special reasons. I am down to 514... still long ways to go!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Tomorrow will bring a entirely new day! I will check on friends and family on FB but that is all I will use FB for... to keep updated with those who mean a lot to me!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now onto my latest tatting project!</div>

I did and while this was really good, I still needed to cook it a wee bit longer yet! So, I'd say over cook that thing! *hahahahaaahaa*</span><br />

Sure, I have eaten many salads in my life time and loved most of them. The difference in local farm freshness and produce shipped from who knows where is amazing. As I was preparing last night dinner, I tasted each item before using them in the salad. I was tasting new flavors like the kale, the fennel, the greens from the beets. Even the lettuce had a burst of flavor! Lets not forget the aroma! My nose was smelling the perfume of the fennel and radishes. I added the tomatoes which did come from my grocer and made sure it was "Product of USA". These were fine but when it is the season for local tomatoes, I'll be on cloud 9! If there was only one vegetable that I had to choose from to live on the rest of my life, it would be the tomatoes! Yes, I am aware that they are actually "fruit" but I don't care!</div>

That is right! To the farm we went. Taylor Creek Farm that is! It was a beautiful morning to go the farm. The sky blue. The sun shining. What more could I want? Well, I want fresh grown produce to take home. I want to eat locally grown, healthy food! I want to do my part to improve the local economy by supporting the local businesses like Taylor Creek Farm.</div>

Speaking of Taylor Creek Farm, Please meet Michelle and Chuck! They are some of the wonderful people in my community. I had the pleasure of meeting them last year. They grow everything on their farm naturally. I managed to buy and eat some of their produce. I was not disappointed in anything that was purchased ...but, (yep a but!) when I arrived last year, they were mostly sold out. That is very exciting for Michelle and Chuck.<br />

About Taylor Creek Farm, this is their second year for doing CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and this is my first year as a share holder of their farm! WOW, we are share holders! How cool is that?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My husband and I have chosen 1/2 shares for that is sufficient for our needs. Each Saturday we take a very short drive to meet Chuck and Michelle at the market. We claim our share of the week's harvest. We are provided with our (reusable) bag(s) of our share(s). With it is a list of the delicious food and since we will be encountering some produce that are not common for instant Fennel. A sheet with brief description of the product (in this case, Fennel) and recipe ideas for you to enjoy!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The recipe provided:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><u><b>Grilled Fennel with Balsamic</b></u></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>1 fennel bulb</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>2 teaspoons olive oil, separated</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>salt and freshly ground pepper</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Trim the fennel stalks and fronds away, you can use them for something else. Cut the bulb in four and gently trim away the core. You want to leave just enough core to hold the section together. If you have a larger bulb, feel free to slice these 4 sections in half again. Rub the fennel with 1 teaspoon of the oil and add a generous helping of salt and pepper.</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<i>Heat your grill to medium and make sure it is cleaned & oiled. Put the fennel on the grill, cover, and turn down to medium low. Check on the fennel in 5 minutes, if it is young and tender, it is probably ready to be turned; otherwise it may need another few minutes. Baste with olive oil as needed. Grill 5-8 minutes per side and then drizzle with balsamic when hot. it should still have a good crispness to it, but not raw either. Serve hot or at room temperature.</i></div>
<br />
<br />
The picture below is of our loot! Everything that is pictured here is our this week's goodies! The eggs does not come with the shares. You can buy them whether you have share(s) or not! We did! I love natural Easter eggs anytime of the year! Each week, we go back to the market with our empty "Go Green" bag(s) and empty egg cartons (to be reused). Then we leave the market with the following week's harvest of more yummy fresh grown produce!<br />

I needed to add more "ONS" to my Etsy Shop, <a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/2TomorrowsTreasures" target="_blank">Yesterday's Scraps, Tomorrow's treasures</a>. I had so much fun in decorating these new order of "nekkid" Clover shuttles. It amazes me that as I use up my scraps of fabrics that it appears... it doesn't even put a dent to my collection of scraps! I wonder... if they just keep multiplying when I am not looking?<br />
<br />
I am looking forward for March 17th.. to celebrate one of my heritage. Happy St. Patrick's Day to Y'all. Please be safe.<br />

Catch You Later,<br />

In the previous post I mentioned that Grandpa and I shared this month celebrating our birthdays. It has been really rough on me, missing him. In spite of the grief, I still celebrate Grandpa's life for he is an amazing man! You noticed that I use present verb tense regarding Grandpa? I refuse to put him in the past because I am part of him... living!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
A while back I saw a cake on Pinterest and said to myself "I am going to make THAT cake for Grandpa and I.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
LOOK! Isn't that divine?</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I checked out the recipe and decided to do it my way with the short cuts! After all, I wasn't really in the mood to all the extra work. I'd rather enjoy the cake than labor over it. I used these items below for my version! Much easier, don't you think? Also, since this was to be the special birthday cake... all the diets were off!</div>

Something yummy arrived in the mail today...I was expecting it! I am in love with that creamy pale lemon yellow and those comforting blues! These are recycled Sari Silk Ribbons, from Napal and other places which it supports the women in those areas. For more information, go to this link <a href="http://www.darngoodyarn.com/"> Darn Good Yarn</a>. I got these from an Etsy Shop of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/linniedarling">linniedarling</a>.</div>

I have two skeins of the yellow and the blues. They came in the twist form and I already wind them into yarn balls. This process gave me the opportunity to feel the silks with my hands as I wound them into the balls. I love them! Now I am waiting on another order to come in but I will leave that to your imagination of what it could be! Any ideas to what these will become? Hum? I know... I know and I'm not tellin' until I create the masterpiece! Muwaaahahahaaaaaaaaaaaa!<br />
<br />
Enjoy the rest of the week!<br />

P.S. Thank you to those who have contributed to my daughter Krystle a.k.a. Dr. Von Threadmore's travel fund so far! (upper left side) Thank You! No pressure...the fund raiser is on going and the funds will go toward the airfare for Kyrstle to attend and teach at the <a href="http://www.palmettotatters.org/events/TatDays2011/TatDays2011.shtml">Palmetto Tatters Guild's 2012 Tat Days</a>Karrieannhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12509454709489592186noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-725337483370452739.post-32804706333955366562012-02-04T19:05:00.003-05:002012-05-07T01:43:56.514-04:00...February is My Favorite Month (part 1 of 2)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
February is one of the many months that I enjoy tremendously.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There many special occasions within this month.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In the years past, My Grandpa and I had fantastic way of celebrating our birthdays.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We perfected it (celebrations) to fine art! He and I would begin few days before my day by take me to the local deli store owned by my Great Uncle Ken and get some penny candy. Yes, those existed in my youth! Then we would drag in the rest of the family to celebrate with us. Many birthday wishes before, during and after! Then my day would officially arrive on the 3rd and have the official cake and party. I had many wonderful party and most of them were at my Grandparents' home at the lake.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, picture this... the location of this home at the lake is located at one of the minor Finger Lakes in New York. This is February, remember! That lake typically freeze every year but do not know about it these days with Mother Nature being temper-mental these years! I have had party on the frozen lake with friends and ice skates, also a bonfire with s'mors & hot cocoa! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Okay, back to Grandpa and I, we would have special treats for my birthday for few days to hold us over! On the 5th, we would begin again with celebrating in full force because it was Grandpa's birthday. Yes, we would have another cake and special dinners, another party! This does not end until few days later because there are left overs to finish up! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For 50 years, Grandpa and I had this private bond because our birthdays fell closely together. I am thankful for these memories of my Grandpa because they help me get through these empty times without him. I miss him dearly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Husband, last night treated me to my birthday dinner at Natalie Jane's Tavern in a nearby town.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was our first visit there. The picture below will show you of our wonderful time. I still enjoyed my birthday because it is <i style="font-weight: bold;">MY</i> special day, I was wonderfully made!</div>

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ I visit <a href="http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/snitz/">MaryJanesFarm Farmgirl Connection</a> often and check out many of the the forums. I peek in the "Farmgirl Barter" or the "Farmgirl Swap" and see if there is something that I might want for barter or even make to swap. For a quiet awhile now, I have seen "Dotee" for swaps but had ignored them mostly.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ That is until recently! I could not ignore it any longer. I finally bit it when I saw a forum thread titled "Dotee Adoption". I should have ignored it like the rest but noooo, I had to be nosy. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Here is the first post in that thread:</span><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Here's how it works.</span><br />
<blockquote>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">I will offer up the first Dotee for adoption. If you want to give her a home, post that you will take her, and offer up the Dotee you made for adoption. You will then send your address to the person adopting the Dotee out.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Please adopt the Dotee and </span><span style="color: red; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">immediately</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;"> offer up your Dotee, so that the adoption process can continue, without delay.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">If you don't have one made, offer her up as a mystery dotee.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">If you want to send your Dotee overseas, say it in your post, otherwise, we'll keep it domestic. Please send your Dotees out within a week or so.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">If you don't receive a Dotee, please let me know, but be sure to include your email address in the body of the email, as I can't log on sometimes.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">For example I might post:</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Dotee for adoption. </span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Her name, or a hint, brief description. You might even offer up a mystery Dotee.</span></span></blockquote>
</blockquote>
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Next post in that thread read:</span><br />
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Here we go.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">Dotee Fairy for Adoption.</span><span style="color: #614136; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica; font-size: x-small;">She's not dirty, she's tea stained/dyed.</span></span></blockquote>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ So, she got adopted and the gal who adopted her, offers up a "Dotee" for the next adoption.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ Well, I got so curious to what this was all about! First of all, what in the world is a Dotee? Someone on the forum asked about the size of these "Dotee". It was said that they run about 3-5 inches. Huh? That little? Okay! Enough is enough! I had to know!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">What is the next best thing to do when you want to find out something and have a computer on hand? It is Google time! I googled Dotee and went to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/doteedolls/">Flickr: Dotee Dolls</a>!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ Oh my gosh! I really should have ignored this! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">There even is a YouTube of how to make these things! </span></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://1.gvt0.com/vi/y_SlCwCYcsU/0.jpg" height="266" width="320"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/y_SlCwCYcsU&fs=1&source=uds" />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ For me, this was way beyond easy peasy! I ran through my dis-organised craft-room and grab a bit of this and a bit of that. I created my very first "Dolee". As she was being made with this and that, her personality was forming.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Just look at her! Isn't she adorable?</span></div>

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">~ This is her story. She wishes to go by the name of Maggie O'May. She had chased some rainbows, hoping to find some pot of gold and with no luck. Then she saw it, but this rainbow was different than all that she had seen in the past. This rainbow danced! She had to get closer to it! She did get too close to it. Her own hair became the colors of the Areola Borealis. Every since Maggie discovered these dancing rainbows, she delighted herself as she danced with them! She may look all frazzled but she is very happy and carefree! </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; text-align: left;">~ I had so much fun with Maggie O'May, that I am in the middle of making another "Dotee". Here it is... a work in progress! The personality is still in the forming stage.</span></div>

Past October, I was approached by an online friend, Debbie, about making a quilt for her granddaughter. I said that I could do it so I asked few her some questions about color choices. Debbie desired a quilt that had a definite "girl" look to it. The Mom liked everything in beiges, browns and neutral colors and she disliked anything pink. I worked with Debbie via emails and messages on Facebook. I spent some time searching for fat quarters of fabrics in various Etsy shops. I was staring at this piece of fabric. It had the elements that I was looking for, the browns and pinks. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbMkIf3Xp97ZJWHXYZOuTA-ZiHOSHlh34MgdkxTkCetXAUmUEEIpFagx6NJstuqLLWRtx-fVmrdyXOgRNQsgMwA8cpCWaKzSU8A3crZ1kYthjvNFtRGAeGi3F6psXBOE0ZY9p6O5RUd_kB/s1600/quilt+a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbMkIf3Xp97ZJWHXYZOuTA-ZiHOSHlh34MgdkxTkCetXAUmUEEIpFagx6NJstuqLLWRtx-fVmrdyXOgRNQsgMwA8cpCWaKzSU8A3crZ1kYthjvNFtRGAeGi3F6psXBOE0ZY9p6O5RUd_kB/s1600/quilt+a.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I learned something through various design shows and art classes of my youth about colors. My Mom even played an important roll in my life with colors. She was an interior designer and I learned many things by watching her work her magic. With these lessons in life, I learned that when you want to bring colors that are pleasing to more than one person which in this case are the grandmother and the mother of the sweet baby girl. The Mom preferred browns and grandma wanted some pink. I brought the two colors together because when the Mom sees it, she'll be drawn to the browns and grandma will notice the pinks while neither will notice the other color! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Try this yourself sometimes, pair up with someone and find out the colors that each of you like the most, find color elements of those colors and see what you notice more!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Take a look at this example of pink and browns! It has that girly look but not over-powering!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This was the next pick to go with the first fabric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMoblyTnFwITNll2vtVfWUexXdIHewy3WubNI_ElgjYgQoKaC9W8Wi0YE-5J2JZoI1QSnWQ07Qq9JZw8fE3nnDrSvs0lIYDf8xOVRF6szR61GG2Qod1Cs80woZjPKldkAZ77xPA0WodA_I/s1600/quilt+f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMoblyTnFwITNll2vtVfWUexXdIHewy3WubNI_ElgjYgQoKaC9W8Wi0YE-5J2JZoI1QSnWQ07Qq9JZw8fE3nnDrSvs0lIYDf8xOVRF6szR61GG2Qod1Cs80woZjPKldkAZ77xPA0WodA_I/s320/quilt+f.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I needed more choices still! For a decent quilt, you would like to have several combination of colors and prints in fabrics. So, in the first fabric I picked up the brown and pink then expanded it with green and sorta of an orange. Then I found the fabric shown below. Things were coming together! I was so excited! I told Debbie that I will find the color combination that she and the mother would be happy with. And THAT I had to also like it too, for I find it very difficult to sew or make something that I totally dislike! I needed to be in a happy mood while sewing! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiler3g4wc812G6DiTvNyfIMhES-GSnabwfI7kardGfU6l6AeSouf2vHli4Zeq6ljMeCMjQxljecM-__QSvN4sDuYrKMNqmbR9Ioh9tFQVlKNXHQZVArqliZppdHNrTgHgsNdOjiwczF8F-/s1600/quilt+e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiler3g4wc812G6DiTvNyfIMhES-GSnabwfI7kardGfU6l6AeSouf2vHli4Zeq6ljMeCMjQxljecM-__QSvN4sDuYrKMNqmbR9Ioh9tFQVlKNXHQZVArqliZppdHNrTgHgsNdOjiwczF8F-/s320/quilt+e.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After bringing the top three together, I was on the search for more possibilities! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This piece had the browns, greens, white and also the orange, adding the various shades of the blues into the mix. Fabulous, huh? Also it has smaller flowers than the one above! That is important also to mix the sizes of the prints, to give it a balance!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrU2Psh73goPteIYL1JTPVBo4RShoeogkyCZ3QrBFLE4GGkcKPuC1sYLs34YOOmp_V9xJxIoJhv0sKzxg0e6Zkn8nnZtV78SfbalPFRVZLDKtUsz-dFmUvsc285_cOxPun8L0kc4ChxaCE/s1600/quilt+b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrU2Psh73goPteIYL1JTPVBo4RShoeogkyCZ3QrBFLE4GGkcKPuC1sYLs34YOOmp_V9xJxIoJhv0sKzxg0e6Zkn8nnZtV78SfbalPFRVZLDKtUsz-dFmUvsc285_cOxPun8L0kc4ChxaCE/s1600/quilt+b.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The blues have been added in, now what? Well, how about a bit more of the dark blue (yes, I am aware that it is turquoise) to balance the darkness of the browns? Perfect! and it also has the white! Look at that! I was so excited as these were coming together! One more thing to find! It is what is known as "magic" fabric. I forget the actual explanation of it but anyhow, I am the one who is creating this masterpiece! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSWkVl_uhC2y3nA9hTaIRXwLuhndOIECl9nrEG2tM4Cq3kQ6zihXRAlerpGi-OpGW-xyDGNTkcZYZmyGPLjUdjsY0k6rsl4QB9Lxdki8TwQt1f9sAvv9VbwItqKSs_QzIwKw7XmCk4ueDD/s1600/quilt+d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSWkVl_uhC2y3nA9hTaIRXwLuhndOIECl9nrEG2tM4Cq3kQ6zihXRAlerpGi-OpGW-xyDGNTkcZYZmyGPLjUdjsY0k6rsl4QB9Lxdki8TwQt1f9sAvv9VbwItqKSs_QzIwKw7XmCk4ueDD/s1600/quilt+d.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Aha! The Magic! Look! Without knowing, this magic was the icing! After I showed these examples to Debbie, she had told me that the mother always called her grandmother, Butterfly, in Russian! This was when I knew that all the pieces of the fabrics were meant to be!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Isn't that beautiful? I am awe struck with it myself. I really do not give myself enough credit at times, but I have always gone with my instincts. I am amazed that I can do stuff like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
One last thing that I needed to finish this quilt was the backing! I kind of do things a bit backwards and take a lot of risks doing this! Good Grief! Where was I going to find the backing to go with this beauty?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Something else that you should know about. I have been making these type of quilts lately with fleece for the back and no batting. It is just something that I started doing for making scrap quilts for doggies and kitties. It is sturdier and I machine quilt the fleece backing to the quilt top. Okay so now, to find the perfect fleece backing! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Well, I did FIND it! I kid you not and I barely believe it myself. Unfortunately I cannot recall what online fabric store it was! Remember what I said about the butterfly? Take a look at the next picture!</div>

It was meant to be, huh? Ah, did you notice how the pink kind of disappeared away? Well, the pink was only meant to be a hint for the girly bit of the quilt!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
I am pleased to say that Debbie LOVED the quilt for her granddaughter!</div>

I am looking forward to making more quilts this Spring and Summer to add them to my <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/2TomorrowsTreasures">Etsy Shop "Yesterday's Scraps, Tomorrow's Treasures"</a>. In case you wonder, I do not make any quilts for sale that is bigger than crib size. Anything bigger takes away the fun of sewing quilts for me.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Why?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I am glad you asked!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Long ago on the 4th of January, I was exhausted from having 72 hours of <b>HARD </b>labour! I kid you not!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then finally, I became a Mom for the first time. A beautiful girl was born onto me. My life had changed forever on the day of her birth. I fell in love! I held her firmly with my love.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Even now, many years later I still have tears of joy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I did not know then what life would be like for me as her Mom. I loved her and taught her my best to love God. I prayed for her back then for her future husband. I prayed for strength and patience for me. I watched that sweet baby girl grow and transformed before my very eyes!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was inadequate and helpless to raise her without God. He sustained me and guided me as this little girl's mother. She, herself has become a wonderful mother with two little girls of her own. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now I see her as I was so long ago, a young mother of two beautiful girls. There are no words for the amount of pride that I have for this beautiful woman who once was my little baby. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

So, Are you ready for the year 2012? Ready or not, it is coming!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIbks3BDEHPL0CxlmBt3jq7Zq4ukJuv-QhLtgGK9B8aRGHxTTzFd35eriyluxYvYRumirwL0IguxY4j6a2rjz-G4UPZ2TBSe_o57Nl6D44aY2ePe8VdT8Zm5BeiPaNTVZzyb14LCHDvYxz/s1600/2012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="148" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIbks3BDEHPL0CxlmBt3jq7Zq4ukJuv-QhLtgGK9B8aRGHxTTzFd35eriyluxYvYRumirwL0IguxY4j6a2rjz-G4UPZ2TBSe_o57Nl6D44aY2ePe8VdT8Zm5BeiPaNTVZzyb14LCHDvYxz/s200/2012.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>
We do not know what the new year will hold for all of us. We could plan for it and hope that it will go that way? Do you make resolutions? I used to but gave up doing them, most of them were futile and far reaching.<br />
<br />
I used to smoke and finally quit but it was never a resolution. It was something that I finally decided that I needed to do for myself, just for me. That was nearly 6 years ago! What will be new for me now? I have made some adjustment in the way I shop for groceries and the way I eat. This is not for a way to lose weight but it will help that in a long run. I am choosing to cut out or cut back on things that are high in carbohydrates, such as white pasta, white sugar, white breads, etc. I am not diagnosis diabetic but if I do not make adjustments now, it is possible. So I have changed with what I pick to buy and eat. It sounds rough to be without those yummy things but I did not look at it that way. For pasta (by the way, I live on this stuff!), instead of depriving myself, I choose the whole wheat or spinach pasta! The potatoes are now sweet potatoes or yams! I am in heaven with the breads! There are more flavors of other breads than white! You got whole wheat, pumpernickel, rye and more but not the potato bread or rolls! So, what about sugar? That is easy! There are raw sugar! Honey is good along with molasses, brown sugar and more. Sure, these things cost a bit more and in comparison, cheaper than medical care!<br />
<br />
Next project for me to work on, beside my personal better health, is the health of my home! My home is in sad ways and it has been for some time now. I have reach the point in my life, in spite of my physical health (my back is steadily getting worse, but that is for another time to talk about) that I need to pull myself out of this funk. It has been a long dragging down funk which is bad for my personality! The happy and go lucky one. It make take me this whole coming new year for me to accomplish my goal... not resolution! I need to get my home back into the healthy home that it needs to be! It is my doing that caused my happy home turn into a stuff and disorganized home. My craft room is so disorganized that many of my, yes <u style="font-weight: bold;">MY</u> craft things have taken over the entire home! I have this project on the dining table, by the way I cannot see the table nor the few chairs with stacks of fabrics and more projects on them. Hey, my living-room hold a bit of my craft stuff and yet another project. I got some pile of things on my dresser too. Even Douglas' poor office is not safe from my clutter! All of this clutter has made me feel bad. It is over whelming! The past few days, I have mentally plan on how and where to start. The thinking of the clutter has weighed me down. My brain is screaming ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! It, the clutter is holding back my creativity. Creativity is where I grow but it is hampered for now. Okay! I am starting in few days, by going around all the rooms and claiming everything that belongs to me and the craft room. It will be a disaster to begin but it is a start!<br />
<br />
I am deciding to be brave and take some before pictures, brave because this means that I will no longer be hiding within my home. On the outside of the home, no one sees within. I am looking forward to be full of sunshine within again! I'll post these at another day.<br />
<br />
I need to do this! For me! So many things that I want to do! I have been held back far too long!<br />
<br />

<br /></div>
<i><span style="color: #783f04;">With that note, I would like to share something that would be totally wonderful for the coming year. Many of my readers know that I LOVE to attend the <a href="http://www.palmettotatters.org/">Palmetto Tatters' Guild</a> 's Tat Day and any other Tat Days! I hope to teach a class or two. I also dream of my daughter <a href="http://krystledawnetats.blogspot.com/">Kyrstledawne</a> from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/people/Krystledawne">Kyrstledawne ~ Fine Lace Jewelry</a>, to come to Palmetto's Tat Days held in Toccoa, GA.(Sept 7 & 8, 2012) I have lived here since 2004 and she has yet to see my home or the "South"! Wouldn't you Tatters also like to see and meet Krystle too? *gasps* Even Dr. Von Threadmore? Maybe she.. err they would teach a class or two at Tat Days? Wouldn't you like that too? Well, I know for fact that she would like to come and be at Tat Days with us too but as many of you know, she is a busy stay-at-home mom of two cutie pie girls with limited funds. (Who isn't these days!) She will try to apply for teaching at Tat Days and maybe the Scholarship Fund too. The Scholarship Fund if granted would cover her room & board but NOT the travel fees. She said would come if there is a way! I am hoping that maybe my friends, readers and tatters would like help and contribute to the Dr. VonThreadmore's Traveling Fund! I have set up a "Fund Raiser" widget at the upper right hand corner for anyone... anyone and everyone who would like to partake in helping Krystle to make it to the Tat Days sponsored by the Palmetto Tatters Guild! The donations will be going to my paypal account and I will purchase her plane tickets as soon as the funds are there for it.I will create a list the gracious contributors by names only. I promise to keep a record for in case this plan does not workout for unseen reason and refund back. Thank you in advance for your generosity!</span></i><br />

Well, it is nearly 2012 and I wish y'all a better year!<br />

(psst...there is a giveaway too!)Wow! The time sure flies by when you are not watching!<br />
So many things have happened since my last post.<br />
<br />
I mentioned about a milestone and it is about this post. you are reading my 100th post. I am very surprised! I mean, already? Really?<br />
<br />
Well with this revelation, I went back to read that first post to see what had happened? It was the 12th of November in year 2006! Many of you may not have known because that post was originally on a blog that I created as Abigail's blog. Time went by and I didn't always keep it up to date for her. Later, I created this blog and I am fond of it. I have gained many friends through it, learned a lot along the way! Then I had felt kind of sad that I did not continue with Abigail's blog because I felt it was abandoned and neglected. I became determined to do something about that, to find a way to bring that blog into this one. I did some reading and research. "There just had to be a way!" YES! YES! I found the answer! It was basically doing a merge of the two blogs. I crossed my fingers, closed my eyes and prayed! With a hesitated click, I slowly opened my eyes and looked. It was all there, in chronology order! I was so relieved! Those yearly years with Abigail are just as special as the first year with Mr. Peabody! If you would like to read that very first post, you can locate it <a href="http://karrieann-followingmyheartandjesus.blogspot.com/2006/11/abigail.html">here</a>. This was about Abigail, when she first came into our lives!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
A while back, I received a very special gift from Grandma. It is a treasure, a very special treasure. Grandma has made many, many, many wonderful things over the years with her talented hands. I am truly blessed to have many of those wonderful things. The treasure that was given to me is the most beautiful cozy sweater and Grandma knitted it ...just for me! I know that I will always and always love it and hold it dearly in my heart. Grandma is 92! She is an amazing lady and I am blessed for being her first Grandchild!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
(INSERT PICTURE)</div>
<br />
Grandma sent me the left over yarn from the sweater. With it, I crocheted a Scandinavian Style Winter hat to go with my sweater. Yes, It can get cold enough here in the Georgia Mountains to warrant wearing this cozy hat! My ears will thank me then! After finishing my hat, I realized that there still was enough yarn to make another hat! So, I did! Guess what I am going to do with it!<br />

One exciting thing we hope to achieve this year at Tat Days is to get in the Guinness Book of World Records! Yes! Friday afternoon, between 6 and 6:30 (EST), we will all be tatting the same pattern at the same time-making snowflakes. We will be using our <a href="http://www.palmettotatters.org/events/TatDays2011/TatOff2011.pdf" style="color: #000066;">Tat Off! Pattern</a>. When searching the Guinness Records, we found 0 entries for tatting. We will be the first! And the world will know tatting is NOT a lost art!<br />
(Note: In the end, it will be up to the Guinness folks to accept our numbers. We have done the paperwork and have a local person to certify. We will see.)<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">The Palmetto Tatters Guild use these "dues" for sharing with the public at the South Carolina State Fair while they demonstrate tatting. I am so excited that PTG's tat days are coming up soon! I am going! I miss my new friends from last year and it will be wonderful to catch up with them again. In case you might know, we have men that also attend to the Tat Days. I know one guy by the name of John who is amazing (to me) in his tatting work! I gained a number of new sisters through tat days and they have become dear to me. We all have our own style of tatting and all are beautiful! I have been tatting non stop since a year ago. I am thrilled with my own ability and see how far I have gone. Now, I am personalizing my own style. I am a BIG fan of the "period" tattings which is one shuttle only, rings only....no chain work! I love it!!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
