I had so much fun that it was therapeutic!
I had four nikkid Clover and one Sew-Mates shuttles that really needed to be dressed!

Aren't these dressed shuttles cute?  I think no nekkid shuttles will ever be safe in my harm's way!  Muuuwahhhahahahaaaa *cough* Was THAT Dr. V coming through me?  Maybe it is all genetic?
(looks to the right.. to the left....)

...Sometimes, A Mailbox Holds a Box of Sunshine!

A while ago, I posted for a chance of a giveaway at one of the blogger's site. I was the lucky gal whose name/ number that was randomly chosen. Aileen's Wicked Tats sure has put a lot of goodies into one box! It was filled up to the brim, as they say. There were so much goodies that I had to separate them into smaller groups for pictures! This also includes the backdrop fabric that I used!

A cute pink piggy pouch (like a coin purse), very sharp pair of scissor, a clever pouch (dotted one, a square pot holder folded in half and stitched on side and bottom). Isn't the fabric colorful and pretty!

The yellow bear face is a retractable tape measure, press the nose and it retracts the tape!
The green round gingham is a cute pin-keep, lid flips to reveal pincushion and enough space for holding sewing stuff with in it, the red thingy is a knitty bob thing-a-ma-jig (remember the wooden spools with little nails in circle and you made a knitted tube?) It is like that with three different tops that allows for different thickness! Wow.. that was more than my knitty bob could do!.

Two packages of eye/ needle threader! An adorable handmade pouch with a tatted humming bird on the flap. The sharp scissors fit perfectly in this!! Bonus!! A decorated shuttle that Aileen did! Love the Spring colors of it! A packet of floss winders in several colors! Then the "hook on clip" retractable holder thing-a-ma-jig

Little baggies of treasures! Beads, Rings, Sequins, Beads, Beads, plastic colorful straws (what would one do with those?) Beads and more beads! Oh, did I mention the back drop fabric?

A spool of thread in the palest pastel! It is soooooo pretty and sweet! A roll of black satin ribbon, and lots of samples of colorful threads I am so tickled! Oh! One more thing.. that is a gorgeous piece of fabric which I used as a back drop.. convenient huh?

This lovely sunshine came all the way from Singapore!
I am thankful for it and all the treasures.
Thank You Aileen!

... More From "A Tatter's Workbook"

As I do more tatting, the better I get. I enjoyed doing this one. It went by fairly fast and not a hard pattern to follow while watching T.V. This shall be a pretty addition to a pair of dresses for a fall theme.

pg.63, bottom
Lizbeth 20, #100- FALLING LEAVES

I am going to take a break from the book and focus on the tatting samples that I would like to submit to the Palmetto's Tatting Guild for their "Call for Teachers", to teach at their next Tat Days! Wish me luck! I need to stop dragging my feet and get busy!!!!

...Shuttlebird's Tatting Guild's Tat Days in April!

I am giving a shout out about this upcoming event!
 Shuttlebirds' Tat Days

I will be there! My Mom will be there! ...aaaaaand Dr.VonThreadmore's alter ego Krystle will be there. Not only is Krystledawne my daughter (a.k.a. Thing One), she'll also be teaching!!! I do hope to work out the finances to be able to attend her class personally!

I am very excited to say that three out of four generations of tatters in our family will be together! The first generation lives in N.Y. and is 92 years young. I so wish that Grandma could be with us but it is such a long way to travel.

Anyways.. before I ramble on and on.. go check out the above link. This is open to all level of tatters, even brand-new beginners! It is only hard if you don't try... many of us would be very glad to help!

Hope to see some of you there come April!!!!

...A New Book That Surged My Tatting Fingers On!

I have few books for tatting instructions ...how to Celtic, how to needle, how to shuttle and numerous pages of patterns for tatting from online, doily this, edging that, motif those. I wanted something more or different to do. After Christmas I batted my puppy dog eyes (hubby says they are) at Hubby for a book that I wanted for Christmas but did not get. He faltered (I am so bad, I knew he would) and said for me to order it. I ordered it and it arrived sometime last week. I have been tatting my fingers off with glee! After all, this girl here received lots of threads and shuttles for Christmas... from that sweet Hubby!

The book that I had to have was,
  A TATTER'S WORKBOOK, edited by J&K. Kliot
Approximately 172 patterns, 112 pages. Includes corner and straight edgings, medallions, round doily borders, collar border. This is a most unusual and fascinating collection of tatting patterns as recorded in a New England notebook by an anonymous tatter in the 1920's. The patterns are accompanied by actual samples of the finished design and are enlarged so the actual stitches can be counted, the worked piece serving as a graphic diagram.

I am so delightfully happy to have this book. I am not very good at designing or creating my own tatting patterns, nor do I really want to!

My daughter Krystle, who many of you know her as Krystledawne or Dr. VonThreadmore, knows that I have fought NOT to learn or take up tatting. She is highly responsible for guilting me into going to the Palmetto Tatting Guild's Tat Days past Summer. I went kicking and screaming!!  (Okay.. I really didn't) I was both excited and apprehensive in going. I am thankful that I did go.. it was located smacked in MY town! Well, since then I have more or less developed my style or personality in tatting.

I am having so much fun in doing edgings or trimmings. I have been doing the hen & chicks edgings for my "1800's Period Costume" but that gets a bit tedious for my eyes. My eyes and my mind needs to be entertained when I am creating or making something. So with the new book, I am challenging myself to tat everything in it. I will also create a "Sample" book of my work. For my eyes not to become bored, I am using all the colorful threads that I have received for Christmas from my Hubby! I also have few of Dr. VonThreadmore's threads and Krystle's unwanted Lizbeth's!  I am such a LUCKY.... erm... blessed gal!!!

So far I have done two edgings from the book!

pg. 4, #6
Lizbeth 20, #124-Spring Garden

pg. 5, #9
Lizbeth 20, # 153-Rainbow Taffy

I decided that I like to do different edgings and someday these will go onto my two Lil Angels' dresses!
